Blessed János (John) Brenner - Martyr for the Sacred Heart
Ardere
Bl. János (John) Brenner was a Hungarian monk who was martyred under communism in 1957. When the communists shut down the Cistercian Order, he became a priest in the diocese and served with tremendous zeal and effect. He was murdered when he was lured in the middle of the night to travel alone to deliver the Last Rites to an allegedly dying man.In his journal, Bl. John Brenner wrote many beautiful prayers expressing his desire to be transformed in the Sacred Heart of Christ: "Take my will, my heart, my all and give me [the grace] that I may be fully transformed into Christ, for this is my vocation. To burn, to be aflame in your love for sinners. I grab with both hands and eagerly swallow the cup of sufferings that Christ gives me. For my life must mirror your life."At Our Lady of Dallas, we are grateful to call him our brother.
