How this Punk Rocker Became a Missionary Priest | Fr. Sam Medley | Episode #349
The BeatiDudes
Fr. Sam Medley joins Paul Kolker, Nick Bezner, and Jeff Schiefelbein at the Tiny Table on the eighteenth anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. A member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, also known as SOLT, Fr. Sam shares how the community brings priests, sisters, and laity together to make disciples through Mary in areas of deepest apostolic need. Long before becoming a missionary priest, Fr. Sam was a green-haired punk rocker who assumed he would eventually get married, have children, and pursue the American dream. Everything changed when he fulfilled a deathbed promise to attend a retreat and encountered Jesus Christ in a way that made the faith unmistakably real. After offering God a blank check for his life, Fr. Sam heard a clear invitation to the priesthood and discovered a freedom, peace, and joy that continue nearly three decades later. Fr. Sam also describes his ministry on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in North Dakota, the deep Catholic faith of the people he serves, and the importance of approaching missionary work through relationship rather than stereotypes. Along the way, he discusses his ability to communicate in fourteen languages, unexpected experiences with the gift of tongues, healing from trauma, Catholic pilgrimage, priestly dad jokes, and why every person should have the courage to ask God, “What do You want me to do with my life?” SUPPORT THE BEATIDUDES https://www.buymeacoffee.com/TheBeatiDudes Our Partners: His Way At Work Sock Religious (10% Discount) Solidarity HealthShare Aquinas Wealth Advisors Lucid Private Office Divine Comedy Undivided Life Follow The BeatiDudes: BeatiDudes Website LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Twitter Jeff Schiefelbein on LinkedIn BeatiDudes Theme Song and Music By The Pencil Bureau Dave Moore Music
