49. Substance and Substratum in Aristotle

Catholicism in the Car

This episode examines the terms of Substance and Substratum as used in Aristotle's works. We also go over what it means to define something, and what to do with terms that cannot be defined. Substance is "that which cannot be predicated of something and nothing can be predicated of it." Substratum is what undergirds certain realities. I am just beginning my understanding of these concepts, and I discuss how I may be understanding these things incorrectly. However, this episode is an example of how I am trying to record my intellectual journey.
