25. The Effects and Delusions of Modernism

Catholicism in the Car

This episode continues talking about the Historical Critical Method of Biblical Criticism, but with a focus on one of its sources: Modernism -- the first fruit of secular culture. In this episode we discuss many of the roots of Modernism, and also discuss its effects: Slavery, Racism, Eugenics, Ageism, Abortion, Physician-Assisted Suicide, etc.  After this, we turn to talking about how Modernism is seen in the present-day Catholic Church, how much of the Church in the 1970's, 80's, and 90's (especially the clergy) turned a blind-eye to homosexuality and sexual immorality among their ranks and among the laity. We discuss the delusional aura of "do what you feel," and (today) "how you feel is what you are." We also discuss how acceptance of these philosophical stances towards sexuality in general has lead to homosexuality, polyamory, and transgenderism.
