Find Yourself Trying To “Fix” Someone?

Homeless But Human

It's hard to face suffering. And sometimes it's even harder to have to watch others go through hard times. Our human nature wants to step in to help with an "I can fix this for you" mentality. But as we'll explore in this episode, people don't want to be "fixed", they want to be loved. Our missionaries face this reality over and over again as they approach the homeless on the streets. We are equipped with knowledge of the local resources, understanding where we can point someone to get a meal, a place to stay, etc. But the truth is, there's a lot of hurt in the world that can't be fixed by a resource. So what can you do? For the answer, we look to Mary and John at the foot of the cross. This is a public episode. About Podcast

Welcome to Homeless But Human—a podcast that invites you into the streets for real conversations about homelessness, dignity, and what it means to love well.

We tackle the common questions and quiet hesitations that keep many from engaging with the poor—and offer practical, relational, and deeply human ways to respond. You’ll hear directly from missionaries, our homeless friends themselves, and those who’ve found that true friendship is the most radical form of charity.

What if the person you pass on the corner had one real friend—someone who knew their name, their story, and didn’t walk away? What if that friend was you?

If you’ve ever wondered what to say, what to do, or how to really help, you’re in the right place. This isn’t a podcast about quick fixes—it’s about slow, faithful love that changes everything.
