INVISIBLE HUMANS: Jessica's Story

Homeless But Human

Jessica is the mama to sweet, curly haired Nora and a total superwoman. She's spunky, hardworking, and has a sweet tooth for milkshakes. In God's providence, Jessica's path crossed with CIC's "house mom", Betty, when she was working as a case manager at Samaritan House homeless shelter. Betty joins us today to share about the special role she has gotten to play in Jessica and Nora's story. In this episode you'll hear: What it was like being homeless as an expectant mother How important friendship was through housing rejections and doubts about being a mom The need for both emotional support (missionaries' friendship) and social service support (a case worker) This is a public episode. About Podcast

Welcome to Homeless But Human—a podcast that invites you into the streets for real conversations about homelessness, dignity, and what it means to love well.

We tackle the common questions and quiet hesitations that keep many from engaging with the poor—and offer practical, relational, and deeply human ways to respond. You’ll hear directly from missionaries, our homeless friends themselves, and those who’ve found that true friendship is the most radical form of charity.

What if the person you pass on the corner had one real friend—someone who knew their name, their story, and didn’t walk away? What if that friend was you?

If you’ve ever wondered what to say, what to do, or how to really help, you’re in the right place. This isn’t a podcast about quick fixes—it’s about slow, faithful love that changes everything.
