THE LITURGICAL LOOKING GLASS - Nick Swarbrick & Tim Hutchinson - John Cage and Vatican II Bangers
Radio Maria UK
We're back in ordinary time, but which Marian aniphon is proper to this season, as it's really still in an inbetween sort of place? Nick and Tim find a solution, and it's a good one. You'll also hear what Tim calls a "Vatican II bomber" (did be mean banger?) and perhaps too much said about silence - oh the irony. Here's the song list for those who want to see. 1. Alma Redemptoris mater - Ave regina caelorum, composed by Jasquin des Prez, performed by Weser-Renaissance Bremen and conducted by Manfred Cordes 2. I the Lord of Sea and Sky by Dan Shutte and sung by the Arundel and Brighton Diocesan Singers. 3. The Song of the Beloved by Fr Tansi from the album Garden 4. Hic Vir Despiciens Mundum from the album Victoria: O quam gloriosum est Regnum 5. Amavit eum Dominus by the Byrd Recorder Consort 6. Similabo eum viro sapienti played by Ensemble Correspondances on the album Charpentier: Messe à quatre chœurs - Carnets de voyage d'Italie
