CULTURE TUESDAY - Sr Gemma Simmonds - Donkey Roads and Camel Treks
Radio Maria UK
In Donkey Roads and Camel Treks, Sr Gemma Simmonds invites us to rediscover the Advent journey with honesty, humour, and hope. While the lectionary calls us to “make straight the way of the Lord,” most of us know that our spiritual paths are anything but straight. Through the stories of the Incarnation, we meet biblical figures who set out toward God by whatever means they can—on foot, by donkey, or even by camel—mirroring our own imperfect but wholehearted attempts to follow the call of discipleship. This book offers warm, practical, and accessible guidance for anyone seeking a deeper encounter with the God who meets us in scripture, in everyday experience, and in the most vulnerable among us. With gentle wisdom (and the occasional nudge forward), Sr Gemma helps us notice what supports us on the journey—and what might be holding us back.
