Episode 31: The Conqueror (1956)
The Bards with Beards Podcast
Don't watch this movie! Whatever you do. The travesty of a historical epic that literally ruined the lives of many of the cast and crew (not to mention RKO Radio Pictures) is a disaster of Biblical proportions that is bad history and bad filmmaking at its absolute finest. John Wayne is a standout as always, excellently turning in a highly crafted and polished performance that perfectly channels Genghis Khan --- if Genghis Khan were somehow to do a perfect impersonation of John Wayne.

About Podcast
Have you ever wondered How much of 'Gladiator' actually happened? Whether William Wallace ever did half the things 'Braveheart' said he did? Whether the crowds were really chanting Queen lyrics in the 14th Century of 'A Knight's Tale'? Or if any of that even matters when the story is just that good?
If you've ever found yourself in one of those situations, tune in for The Bearded Bards Podcast: a weekly discussion and exploration of the greatest (and not-so-greatest) moments in history, literature, and cinema, and where those three intersect.
