Superman
The Catholic Lens
🎬 David DiCerto dons his cape and X-ray vision to review James Gunn's new SUPERMAN—through a Catholic lens! 🦸♂️⛪ Can Hollywood still believe in hope, truth, and heroism without turning them into punchlines? This reboot trades Zack Snyder's brooding Superman for a brighter, more idealistic take—but does it deliver the goods, or just put red trunks on a hollowed-out icon? 🧨 From CGI kaiju and monkey-bots to political subtext and parental subversion, DiCerto unpacks the spiritual stakes hidden beneath the cape. 🎥 Topics include: * Superman's shifting morality: from Christ figure to confused millennial * The erasure of "the American Way" and what it reveals about cultural identity * Why Superman's real superpower isn't strength—but sacrifice * Are Ma and Pa Kent now flyover-state punchlines? * Comic-book mythology and Catholic theology (and why Brando still said it best) * Krypto the Superdog, boyhood nostalgia, and that mid-air kiss 📌 Key takeaway: Gunn's Superman soars in spirit but stumbles in soul—getting the symbols right while losing the virtue that gave them meaning. In a world desperate for goodness, niceness just won't save us. 💡 Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more Catholic reviews of films and pop culture! #TheCatholicLens #Superman #MovieReview #FaithAndFilm #JamesGunn #DavidDiCerto #CatholicPerspective #TruthJusticeAndTheAmericanWay #HopeMatters #PopCultureThroughFaith 🎬 Searching for insightful, faith-centered movie reviews?
