The Canaanite Woman's Bold Faith: A Sunday Gospel Reflection – Fr. Mike Mahoney – 08/14/2026
The Catholic Morning Show
Fr. Mike Mahoney, parochial vicar at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish in Des Moines, joins The Catholic Morning Show to preview the Gospel for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The reflection unpacks the story of the Canaanite woman who persistently sought healing for her daughter from Jesus despite being turned away by the disciples. Fr. Mahoney explores what her humility and perseverance teach modern Catholics about approaching God in moments of doubt or unworthiness.
