16. The Interior Castle: Divine Revelations and Painful Longing For God
The Commentaries
St. Teresa tells us a soul in this stage has a longing for God that is painful and continues to grow as it progresses through The 6th Mansions, and its longing may culminate in a strange phenomenon in which it feels a sharp, sudden wound, as if pierced with an arrow. This is incredibly painful, but the soul gladly bears it for God’s glory.
