St. John Paul II is known for his joyful disposition and deep prayer life. Little would someone know from meeting him the incredible suffering he faced throughout his life. Losing his entire family by the age of 21 years old, multiple near death experiences, standing up in the face of Communist Poland, and attending underground Seminary--just to name a few before his papacy had even begun. St. John Paul II teaches us lessons of hope, perseverance, courage, and trust in God's plan for our lives.
