And in the blue corner, dialing in from Kendallville, Indiana, the Protestant challenger, Billy! 🥊🎙️ Round 1: The Confession Question Billy goes first, saying that Catholic should only confess their sins to Jesus. Patrick counters, highlighting James 5's endorsement of confessing sins to one another. 📖💥 Round 2: The Father Figure Debate Billy throws a haymaker with Matthew 23's command to "call no man father." Patrick parries with John 20, where Jesus empowers the apostles to forgive sins, laying the groundwork for the Sacrament of Confession. 🙏🔒 Round 3: The Saints and Sinners Saga Billy lands a low blow, declaring all Catholics hell bound. Patrick, unfazed, leans on the early Church Fathers and Scripture, affirming the Christian identity and sainthood of believers. 👼🔥 Round 4: The Antichrist Accusation Billy predicts a dire future for Catholics with the Antichrist. Patrick, standing firm in faith, assures his trust in Jesus for salvation, not swayed by threats of persecution. 🌩️✝️ Round 5: The Salvation Scuffle Billy asserts the once-saved-always-saved doctrine. Patrick, armed with Ephesians and Romans, demonstrates the scriptural possibility of losing one's salvation, challenging Billy's interpretation. 📚❌ Final Round: The Graceful Goodbye Billy, persistent, denies the potential to fall from grace. Patrick, calling on Galatians 5, illustrates how one can indeed be severed from Christ.
