The Hidden Christ in the Story of Samson
The Steward’s Key
Was Samson just a yoked buffoon with terrible judgment, or was he also a real biblical type of Christ? In this episode of The Catholic Steel Man Show, Nicholas Nogueira explores the strange and powerful story of Samson through the lens of biblical typology. Samson is not a type of Christ because he is morally perfect. He is a type because his life gives us a broken shadow of something Christ fulfills perfectly. Samson is announced before birth. He is set apart for a mission. He battles the enemies of God’s people. He is betrayed, mocked, weakened, and dies with his arms stretched out, bringing deliverance through his death. But the difference is everything: Samson dies with his enemies. Christ dies for His enemies. This episode looks at how Catholic biblical interpretation reads the Old Testament not as random stories, but as a world of patterns, shadows, and promises fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
