08 May 25 – The American Pope: Leo XIV
The Terry & Jesse Show
History is made: For the first time, an American—Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost—ascends to the Throne of Peter, taking the name Leo XIV in a nod to the great reforming popes of the past. But as Rome erupts in cheers and whispers, how are Catholics worldwide truly reacting? From traditional Latin Mass devotees to progressive reformers, from the Vatican Curia to the pews of small-town America, this election divides, inspires, and shocks the faithful. Some see divine providence in his choice of name—invoking Leo the Great’s orthodoxy and Leo XIII’s battles against modernity. Others fear an American pope signals a Church bending to political winds. In this episode, we explore: Why "Leo XIV"? The symbolic weight of his name—and what it predicts about his papacy. The American Factor: How global Catholics view a U.S.-born pope—pride, suspicion, or something deeper? Traditionalists vs. Progressives: Will he reconcile the Church’s factions… or deepen the rift? The Prophetic Angle: Conspiracies, signs, and the whispers of St. Malachy’s "last pope" legend. Love him or question him, one thing is clear: This is a pontificate that will shake the world.
