A Theological Review of the Amazon Synod

Tradition and Sanity

Catholics the world over have been disturbed, demoralized, scandalized, and galvanized by the recently completed Amazon Synod. This lecture, given at Regina Caeli Parish in Houston, Texas, on November 24, 2019, falls into four parts: first, the violations of the first Commandment that took place at the Vatican in October; second, true and false notions of inculturation; third, the proposal to abolish mandatory clerical celibacy; and fourth, the proposal to ordain female deacons or deaconesses. After the lecture, there is a lively Q&A period. A video of this lecture -- including footage and photos from the Vatican that illustrate all of the points made about sacrilege -- may be found at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n64KqYSnMc.
