Financial Expert: You don’t know what your money is supporting
Theology of Money
Most Christians are already voting on how the world's largest companies operate. They just don't know it. In this episode, Jerry Bowyer explains proxy voting and what it means for Catholic and Christian investors who want their money to reflect their faith. Owning shares in a company comes with a vote, much like a citizen, in how that company is run. Many people let other people cast those votes for them through their retirement accounts. Without knowing it, they may end up funding causes that go against their faith, from abortion travel to medical procedures for children. Bowyer says Christians can take a more active role, or ask a financial advisor to make sure their investments line up with the Gospel. That way they become faithful managers of what God has given them. The goal is not just to make money. It is to use wealth for good, the way St. Joseph of Arimathea used his wealth and high position to care for Christ.
